Our Principal
Mrs. Myra Edwards
Mrs. Myra Edwards is the Principal at Munford Elementary School. She started her career as a substitute teacher and school bus driver, then was hired as an instructional assistant at B.B. Comer Elementary and High School for Talladega County School District in 1998. She began her teaching career at Lincoln Elementary in 2008 teaching 5th grade students. After eight years at Lincoln, she continued her career at Talladega County Central High School as a reading teacher, media specialist and technology integration specialist over four marvelous years. In 2020, Mrs. Edwards started as the assistant principal at Winterboro High School for three years. She ended her assistant principal position at Lincoln Elementary School last year.
Mrs. Edwards graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a master's in Educational Leadership from Samford University in 2014. During her years as a teacher, she had several opportunities to hold many leadership positions. While teaching, she has served on the 5th grade Reading Pacing and Assessment Team for Talladega County Schools, as well as serving on the Leader In Me Lighthouse Team and Scantron state assessment team for 7th grade ELA. Talladega County School District has provided her many leadership opportunities by serving as teacher leader, technology specialist, testing coordinator and title one coordinator. Mrs. Edwards has received Leaders to Learn from in 2016 and Teacher of the Year 2018 at Talladega County Central High School.
She is immensely proud and thrilled to be a Munford Lion and take part in this wonderful community. One of her favorite quotes is, “The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” H. Jackson Brown Jr.
